Twitter vs Threads: Differences and Features

 Presentation

Meta has launched a new microblogging app called Threads, which will compete directly with Twitter. The comparison of both the apps has already started but some features of Twitter are not available in the Threads app.

Twitter is the world's largest microblogging platform but now its crown may be in danger. A new Threads app has been launched by Meta, which has been introduced as an alternative to Twitter. This app has been developed by the team of Instagram and many features like Twitter have been given in it. Many are calling this app a copy of Twitter, while the comparison of the features of these apps has already started. Of course, the Threads app is still new, but let's see which app is looking better at the moment. ‎‫יב‬‎

This is the difference between the interface of both the apps.

The interface of the new Threads app is very similar to Instagram and this app is of minimal interface. On the other hand, Twitter's interface is familiar and more options are available in it. There are five tabs at the bottom of the Threads and Twitt apps, ranging from the Feed to the Notifications tab. Separate tabs are available for For You and Following in the Twitter feed but this is not the case in the new Meta app.

Web version of Threads not available Meta's Threads app has been launched on both iOS and Android platforms and can be downloaded from Apple App Store or Google Play Store. The Twitter app has been available on both these platforms for a long time. Although apart from these platforms, the web version of Twitter is also available, the web version of Threads has not been launched yet. That is, this app cannot be used by visiting the website on the big screen right now.

These features of Twitter are better than Threads

It is obvious that Twitter has been active for a long time and continuous changes and improvements are being made in it. Read on the Twitter app On the website, users go to a separate trending section and find out which issues are tweeting more users. Only profiles and accounts can be searched after going to the search option in Threads.

The option of hashtags is not provided on the Threads platform, nor can users bookmark any thread. Apart from this, the option of direct messaging is also available on Twitter but till now no such feature has been given in Threads.

Twitter:

Twitter is the main social media platform that allows users to share short messages called tweets. Each tweet can have up to 280 characters, and users can post text, photos, videos, and links. People can follow each other to see their tweets in their timeline and engage through likes, retweets, and replies. Twitter is a place to share thoughts, opinions, news, and engage in conversations with a broader audience.

Threads:

On Twitter, a thread refers to a series of connected tweets posted by a user. Threads are used to share longer thoughts or stories that cannot fit within the character limit of a single tweet. Users create a thread by replying to their own tweet and adding additional content to continue the narrative. This allows users to maintain context and share more in-depth content without being constrained by the tweet's character limit.

Which is the better option regarding privacy?

A lot of user data is being collected from both Threads and Twitter, but the new app is tied directly to Instagram. To completely delete the data of Threads and delete the account, users will have to delete the Instagram account.

Users on Twitter can delete and deactivate their account if they wish. Meta has clarified that users can delete their threads but the account cannot be deleted separately as the account is linked to Instagram.

Summary !

Twitter is the overall platform, and threads are a way to create longer, connected messages or stories by chaining tweets together.
